1. Table Mountain

It’s the symbol of the city, and for good reason! Table Mountain’s flat top gives you an amazing panorama of Cape Town, the Atlantic Ocean, and the surrounding mountains. You can hike up if you’re feeling adventurous, or take the cable car for a quicker, more relaxed ride. The view is especially breathtaking at sunset!

2. Boulders Beach and the penguins

This special stretch of beach near Simon's Town is where you can sunbathe among African penguins. The little black and white birds are surprisingly loud, but incredibly cute – and they live completely free here. The water here is also crystal clear, although quite chilly!

You can view them in two places: one is paid, the other is free, but there are far fewer copies, rather scattered.

3. Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope

Many people think this is the southernmost point of Africa (spoiler: it’s not, but it’s very close!). The dramatic cliffs and the surrounding ocean are breathtaking. The area is a nature reserve, so you can easily spot baboons, ostriches, and antelopes.

4. The colorful houses of Bo-Kaap

This historic district is visible from afar with its brightly colored houses. Once inhabited by slaves, it is now the cultural center of the Malay community. It is worth wandering the small streets, tasting the local food, and learning more about the history of the region.

5. V&A Waterfront

One of the busiest and most vibrant parts of the city – full of restaurants, shops, museums and musicians. It is also the departure point for tours to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. If you are looking for a bit of hustle and bustle, shopping or a delicious seafood dinner, this is the place for you.

6. Lion's Head at sunrise or sunset

If you like hiking, Lion's Head is the perfect choice for a short but spectacular hike. The summit offers 360-degree views, and many people time their climb for sunrise or sunset - not without reason, because the lights are magical.

7. Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden

Located at the foot of Table Mountain, the garden is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world. Here you can not only admire plants, but also listen to open-air concerts, walk along the forest canopy path, or simply have a picnic under a shady tree.

+1 Tip: Kitesurfing at Bloubergstrand

If you love water sports, Cape Town is an absolute paradise for kitesurfing – especially at Blouberg Beach. The wind is almost always perfect, (it could be strong and gusty) and the view of Table Mountain in the background is just stunning. If you’ve never tried it before, don’t worry – there are plenty of schools offering beginner courses.

Cape Town will delight all your senses: the smells, tastes, colors, and breathtaking landscapes will leave you with memories that last a lifetime. One day is never enough – The magic of Cape Town: 7+1 places you must see in the pearl of South Africaand honestly, even a week isn’t enough – to see everything this incredible city has to offer.

If you ever need a good kite school in Blouberg, I recommend this one. -

Once you visit, I promise, you’ll want to come back again and again!
